One Year In: What I’ve Learned, What I’m Choosing
Collaboration Over Contracts
A year ago, I set out to build something that reflected who I am: a consulting service rooted in people, flexibility, and the real day-to-day of local organizations. Not a deliverable-producing machine. A small firm, yes. But with a big ambition: to help clients bring their ideas to life — not just plan them on paper.
What this first year has confirmed is that the best solutions come from real collaboration. Working closely with teams, understanding their day-to-day, their pain points, their drive... it changes everything.
A Small Firm, a Wide Range of Possibilities
That’s the beauty of a lean structure like mine:
– No heavy hierarchy
– Real flexibility from one project to the next
– The freedom to build the right team for the work
I don’t do everything, but I carefully choose who I work with. And that’s often where the real value lies.
What I Appreciate the Most
It’s not just about the projects. It’s about the people behind them.
The ones who referred me
The ones who took a chance on me
The ones who gave me that first opportunity
These simple acts are the foundation of what I’m building: a trust-based network — not just a client list.
What Keeps Me Moving
Projects that push me out of my comfort zone. Concepts I’ve never explored before. Challenges that make me slow down, think clearly, and build with intention.
And that moment when someone says:
“Thanks for pushing on that point. This tool will really help us.”
That’s when I know I was right to dig a little deeper.
A Different Approach to Consulting
I’m not here to sell a pre-made solution. I listen. I adapt. I build alongside. And I believe that’s exactly what many teams need.
In Closing
To everyone who contributed to this first year: thank you.
